I am the volunteer manager of the website for my high school alumni association. I do not work as a programmer or a web designer but have had to learn how to build the association's community website. The Alumni Association has very high standards for its online community but we have very limited technical ability and financial resources to bring advanced online features to fruition. Most of my web design or upgrade efforts are cut & paste from sites I like. I then have to fiddle with it to get it to work and look right. I usually do not have a lot of patience and if it does not work right away the �upgrade project� is over.

We have been thinking since we went online three years ago about an online directory for our site. We wanted something interesting, that would allow alumni to find and email each other while keeping the email addresses confidential, and that would reduce the growing burden of managing the email database and alumni database. Building one alumni software from scratch was out of the question. I just do not have the interest in learning that much programming. I looked for scripts and programs for years and was not very satisfied with what I found. The canned online community sites with databases are either too expensive, have too much advertising and or not very customizable.

I came across Profile Manager from Interlogy and thought it was worth a look. I downloaded Profile Manager Basic and literally had it running on our site with our commercial ISP in 15-30 minutes. I was very impressed with Profile Manager Basic, having looked over so many other offering, and went back to the Interlogy site to learn more. I decided very quickly to upgrade to the Profile Manger Premium even if I had to pay for it out of my own pocket! (Usually we have to stop at the free stuff.) This was going to do what we wanted and reduce my workload as volunteer alumni webmaster.

The Profile Manager Premium was just as easy to get going as the Basic. It is feature rich, interactive, and customizable. I have been able to "brand" the Profile Manager with our look and feel, even the interactive email, with my limited knowledge of HTML and no knowledge of online databases. The importing of our existing data was very straightforward (editor's note: see here). The really best part about this product is the support from Interlogy. I do not usually recommend things but I have no problem recommending Profile Manager Premium from Interlogy. It is an excellent product.
