This is a step-by-step screenshot tour of Profile Manager Basic installation. Although PM Basic is a software that runs on your server which can be UNIX, Linux, OS X or Windows, installer can run on your local windows based computer. It handles file upload and chmod changes for you. If your computer is not running a windows operating system, you should instead complete manual installation by downloading PM Basic in a zip file and following the instructions on the readme.txt file. Once the first step of the installation is complete, the installer then will launch a browser to continue installation process on your server.

1. Enter FTP Information
To start your installation of Profile Manager Basic, you should download an exe file from Interlogy site download page. Then double click on this file. The installer will launch and first screen will ask information regarding your FTP account on your website. The installer needs your FTP information to upload and configure PM Basic files in your site. Enter your web site URL, FTP host name (usually your domain name), login name and password. Then click on "Next".

2. Select Location for your Membership Section
Next, you will be connected to your site and will be able to browse it to find a location for PM Basic installation. The files will be uploaded in a new folder on your selected directory, so you can safely select the main directory of your site. Click on Next to continue.

3. Uploading Files
Next your files will be uploaded in your site. This may take couple of minutes. If your connection is very slow(i.e. dial-up) and unreliable(i.e. wi-fi), your FTP connection may time out. If this happens, click on Back button and restart the upload process.

4. Launching Web Browser
Once the upload is complete and installer sets the permissions for the uploaded files, you will see a message "Done. Launching Web Browser...". Your browser will open and you will be taken to /pm3/cgi/setup.cgi screen in your website.

5. License Agreement
Your browser will open up and you will first view the License Agreement for Profile Manager Basic. If for some reason, you don't see this screen, it probably means your FTP connection timed out during the upload and not all of your files were uploaded to your site. In that case, you should restart the installer and upload your files again. If you see this screen correctly, please read the license, and if you agree click on "Accept License and Install" button. If you do not agree with the license, you can FTP to your site and delete pm3 folder in your uninstall PM Basic.

6. Enter Admin Password
Next, choose a password. This password will be saved encrypted in the server, and a cookie will be set your browser to authenticate you throughout the process. This will also be your admin password once the installation is complete.

7. Performing Checks
The Installation wizard will perform checks. It will check if any necessary files are missing. It will also check for permissions. If there is a problem, it will tell you what to do about it, and you can perform "Check Again" once you complete what is asked.

8. Confirming Settings
In this step, the installation wizard will suggest you some settings. Such as where static profile, image and protected directory folders should be created. It will also decide how to send emails. If you don't like the suggested configuration you can make changes on them.

9. Creating Sample Forms
You will then be asked where to create sample form pages such as login, registration and search. You can change the default suggested directory if you prefer the files to be created somewhere else.

10. Installation is Complete!
You are all set. Your configuration has been created for the first time successfully. Now, you can test the program completely, and start customizing database fields and templates for your own site. You can click on the link to start using your membership site.

11. Test Your Membership Site
Finally, you will come to a page with sample forms and listings. You can test your new site. You can also copy these forms into various places in your web site.
Enjoy Profile Manager Basic! And Have a Great Membership Site.
