Managing membership database is made very easy now with Profile Manager Basic. You can backup, import or export your database without leaving your web based admin panel.

1. Backup and Restore
This is a simple backup tool that lets you save a copy of your existing membership database in a separate file in your web server. You can later come back and restore your database back to how it was by selecting the version from the backup list and clicking on Retrieve link.

2. Import Members - Start
If you have an existing membership database in excel or any other format, you can load your members into Profile Manager Basic database using the web based import tool. You must first export your existing database in a text-delimited format. Then copy it to the textarea in this screen. First line should be a listing of the matching database fields in the Profile Manager database.

3. Import Members - Preview
When you click on Preview button on the first screen of the Import tool, you will come to a page with a textarea and possibly warning messages. Sometimes there is a problem on the user's data you are trying to load. You will get those problems on this preview screen. If you would like to still load members with the problems, you can go to Preferences tab and change the settings temporarily. For example, on the example above user "bejohn" is not loaded because I have check on the email formats on the Preferences section. If I would like to let PM Basic load this member, I can go to Admin -> Preferences -> Email and disable the email format check feature.

4. Import Members - Complete
After previewing your database, click on "Complete" button to finish your dataload. Your will get a simple confirmation like below.

5. Export Members - Start
Export database screen is located under your "Database" tab like all other database functions. You can first select profile fields to be included in your member export. You can also setup simple filters for your export such as "Export only where country equals to United States". Finally, choose your output type. You can export your membership database in a text-delimited file, CSV (Comma Separated Values) or Microsoft Excel.

6. Export Members - CSV Output
This screen shows what a CSV output looks like. Most database tools accept CSV format for importing data. So, you can save this output in a text file, rename it as .cvs and load it into your 3rd party application such as a label printing software.

7. Export Members - Excel Output
PM Basic can also open your membership database directly in Excel. After selecting "Excel" as your output type, click on Export button. Depending on your browser type you will get your Excel file either inside your browser or saved as a file in your local computer.
