What are the server requirements for Profile Manager Premium?
Profile Manager Premium is designed to be self sustainable. It will run
on any kind of web server that supports Perl/CGI. It will run on UNIX,
Linux, Windows or Mac based systems.
If your server is Windows IIS, you will not be able to use members-only
protected directory feature since IIS does not support htaccess-like directory
It creates and manages its own text based database files, so no external
database application is needed.
Profile Manager Premium now requires Mysql to provide higher levels of scalability. Older versions are still available to users if you prefer flat files.
PM Premium uses some Perl modules for various tasks. If one or more of
these modules are missing on your server, the application will still function
but some features maybe disabled. Here is the list of modules and features
that require them:
Image::Magick: Picture thumbnailing, scaling, watermarking and annotation
Time::Local: Subscription payments.
LWP::Simple: phpBB integration.
LWP::UserAgent: PayPal payments.
Spreadsheet::WriteExcel: Opening member database in an Excel spreadsheet.
Business::OnlinePayment::AuthorizeNet: AuthorizeNet payments.
Is it possible to import my existing member database?
Yes, PM Premium has an import tool in the Admin Panel.
How easy is the installation?
We now have a windows installer that makes installation much more easier.
If you are not a windows user, we also support FTP based installation.PM
Premium also comes with free installation promise. If you would prefer us
to complete the installation for you, please send us your order number,

Can I customize profile database fields?
Absolutely! PM Premium is highly customizable. Use Database
Wizard on the Admin Panel to add any new database fields you have.
You can add any kinds of
questions you would like. PM Premium supports text, textarea, radio, pulldown
menu, uploadable field, hidden field and multiple selection box.
PM Premium 4.0 now introduced new profile field types including
Single Checkbox, Checkboxes, Upload Picture, Upload Video, Upload
Upload Audio and Upload Document question types.
Can I customize the design?
Yes, PM Premium member pages are completely HTML template based. You
can download all of the templates into your computer, open them in your
favorite HTML editor and redesign them as you wish.
You can also change navigation, add new pages, remove unwanted pages
and completely reorganize it.
What skills are required to customize the design?
Newbie to web, don't even know what HTML means: You should probably let
us install the application for you and stay with the default design. We
are impressed by your courage, so we will modify the top bar for you and
put your site name or logo on it at no charge!
Only can use a WYSIWYG HTML Editors such as Frontpage or Dreamweaver: You
will be able to open all member area templates in your editor and edit
them. With a little bit patience, you will have a professional looking
site with a well integrated membership area. You will probably have some
problems that you can't figure out here and there. But don't quit, please

Good at HTML and web site design: You will surely have a lot of fun! You
will be able to customize all of the pages, add new pages, redesign your
own navigation flow, integrate your homepage with the membership area and

Are there any limitations of Profile Manager Premium?
There is no hard limit on how
many members you can have,
however our recommended limit is 10,000 members recommended limit for our new Mysql based version is 100,000 members.
Which installation should I choose?
If you are using a MS Windows operating system on your computer, download
the windows installer version, that will handle FTP upload and permissions
for you. Otherwise, download the zip version, you will find the further
instructions on the README file.
Installation problems, what should I do?
If you are using the windows installer, you may also try the manual zip

I have installed PM Premium, what now?
First, create a test account and test all features.
Then, you might want to integrate your member area with your homepage to
start accepting your members. Log into your Admin Panel and go to "Includes" page
under Setup tab. You can now get some code for various forms, statistics
and mini profiles. Copy and paste them into your homepage.
A good place to start your customizations is the profile database fields.
Log into your Admin panel and go to Setup tab. You can now use the Database
Wizard to add/modify/delete profile data fields and update your registration/modification
Next, to quickly update the main design, download templates/common/t_header.htm
file into your computer, open it in you favorite HTML editor and customize.
I have customized my database fields but the registration form did not
Many users prefer to redesign their registration forms, so the Database
Wizard will not overwrite your existing registration form with the new
fields. On the Database Wizard page, you will see a "Step 2" option
at the bottom of the page.Copy the new registration form code or the changes
you would like to apply to your registration form manually.
How can I setup one-time membership payments?
On your admin panel, go to Setup -> Payments page. You must complete
Step 1, 2 and 3 in the same order to create functional payment form. If
you are getting one-time payment, do not choose "Recurring" payment
gateways on the second step.
How can I setup recurring subscription payments?
On the Admin -> Setup -> Payments page, first complete the first
step. Then on the second step, choose "Recurring" payment gateways.
Then complete Step 3.
How can I setup donation payments?
If you would like to get donation payments, on the Admin -> Setup
-> Payments -> Step 2, choose PayPal gateway and set your price to "0".
When you complete Step 3, the user will be asked to enter a donation amount
